Bengals listed as ideal landing spot for…Mike Tomlin?

The Cincinnati Bengals have a lot to worry about right now as they may or may not address their coaching situation next offseason.

But that certainly doesn’t apply to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers are a mess and names like Ben Roethlisberger are calling for Mike Tomlin’s job.

Naturally, this led to Tomlin popping up with the “Best Landing Place” production.

Among them, an article by Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report listed the Bengals as a future option for Tomlin:

“Tomlin can essentially focus on retooling the defense while allowing Burrow, Jamal Chase, Tee Higgins, Chase Brown and the rest of Cincinnati’s playmakers to do what they do best for the offensive coordinator he hires – Tomlin won’t have a hard time finding a capable coordinator willing to coach this team.”

The Bengals would be a good choice for any head coaching candidate if the job opens up. Interestingly, if the Bengals do move on from Zac Taylor, they may go in another direction next time and go after a defensive-minded coach.

But this is already far ahead of its time. Taylor has been on the hot seat this season because he has been unable to play average defense without Joe Burrow. If they miss the playoffs, the team will need to do some soul-searching.

Right now, though, the focus is on Burrow and the slim chance of a playoff run. Regardless, Tomlin in Cincinnati is certainly out of the question for Bengals fans.
