Today is the NHL trade deadline.

NHL teams have until 3 pm ET today, Friday, March 6, to finalize the trade. Contenders will be looking to add that final piece or pieces to help them capture the Stanley Cup. Non-playoff teams will be looking for rookies or draft picks to help them rebuild or regroup.

These two days have been very busy. Defensemen transferred on March 4, including MacKenzie Weegar to the Utah Mammoths, Tyler Myers to the Dallas Stars and Nick Blankenburg to the Colorado Avalanche.

The forwards changed hands on March 5, with Nic Dowd joining the Vegas Golden Knights, Nicolas Roy joining the Avalanche, Michael Bunting joining the Stars, and David Perron returning to the Detroit Red Wings. Defensemen John Carlson (Anaheim Ducks), Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn (Buffalo Sabers) were transferred after midnight.

The NHL trade deadline is Friday, March 6 at 3 p.m. ET. Trades are also typically announced after that time, as NHL relievers approve deals submitted early.

Players likely to be transferred today

For roster management purposes, the following players were left out of the lineup Thursday night: New York Rangers forwards Vincent Trocheck and Sam Carrick, Toronto Maple Leafs’ Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Scott Laughton and Bobby McMahon, and Florida Panthers forward AJ Grier.

Several deals were announced after midnight ET.

The Anaheim Ducks acquired defenseman John Carlson from the Washington Capitals, the Buffalo Sabers acquired defensemen Logan Stanley and Luke Schenn from the Winnipeg Jets, and the Columbus Blue Jackets acquired forward Connor Garland from the Vancouver Canucks. Trade details can be found here.
