NFL insider explains why Bears make ‘a lot of sense’ for Maxx Crosby

The Chicago Bears are at the top of the Maxx Crosby sweepstakes and are reportedly interested in trading the five-time Pro Bowler to bolster their pass rush.

While Crosby has not officially requested a trade, things have not been the same since the Las Vegas Raiders suspended him for the final two games of the 2025 season. Beliefs are growing that Crosby will be traded this week, and the Bears have been “keeping a close eye” on his availability. Chicago is also reported to be Crosby’s preferred destination.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer has been following Crosby trade rumors and was the first to link Chicago to the star pass rusher. During a recent podcast appearance, Breer doubled down on the Bears as his projected landing spot for Crosby.

“They’ve been looking for a rusher,” Breer said on Monday’s Quarterback Morning Show . “They have Montez Sweat on the other side. They were in the divisional round last year … and they went head-to-head with the Rams.”

Brill’s Sports Illustrated colleague Connor Orr also expressed his opinion that Chicago would be a good fit for Crosby.

“Now, this team has been able to put the pedal to the metal and go for it,” Orr said. “This is a team that makes a lot of sense.”

“I think the idea of doing this,” Brill added, “Chicago makes a lot of sense to me.”

But how much does it cost to land in Crosby? The Raiders are reportedly seeking a contract similar to what the Dallas Cowboys got for Micah Parsons last year. But Breer believes it will cost at least a first-round pick and then something else. Las Vegas is reportedly interested in linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, and wide receiver DJ Moore would be a reliable weapon for rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Both players could be additions to a potential trade package for Crosby.

If the Bears are truly interested in bringing in Crosby, they’ll face stiff competition. The Seattle Seahawks, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams have also shown interest, according to Breer.
