How to Upload Documents to DigiLocker

DigiLocker is a cloud storage service for government-issued documents created by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) under Digital India Corporation (DIC). It uses your Aadhaar card as a proof of identity and allows you to digitize your documents and make them readily available to you whenever you have an internet connection. These digitized documents are considered on par with the original physical documents and are accepted by railways, traffic police and, more recently, passport services. So, we’ve put together a step-by-step guide on how to upload documents to DigiLocker.

DigiLocker can sign files and upload files. An issued document is an electronic document issued by a government agency to an individual directly from the original source. These documents are stored as URLs in the Published Documents section. As the name suggests, uploaded documents are documents that an individual uploads to their DigiLocker account. This can include .pdf, .jpeg, and .png files under 10MB in size.
