Mastantono faces ban after Getafe game
Alvaro Arbeloa’s side were beaten at home by Getafe (1-0) at the Santiago Bernabeu on match day 26 of La Liga.
In the 94th minute, Franco Mastantono was directly shown a red card. The Spanish league later released details of the incident through an official referee report.
According to the document, the former River Plate player verbally abused the referee directly. He reportedly approached and repeatedly shouted:
“What a pity…what a pity, you idiot.” This sentence was repeated several times.
It is worth noting that the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary code states that any player who insults or verbally disrespects a referee will be suspended for two to three games, which can be extended by up to one month, unless the incident is deemed to be more serious.
