Halo Studios said it will share details of the Halo project in development at the Halo World Championship in October this year. At last year’s event, the studio announced that it was developing several Halo games built with Unreal Engine 5. At the time, the developer (formerly 343 Industries) also said it would change its name to Halo Studios and debuted Unreal Engine 5 footage of the series’ environments and characters for the first time.
Halo Games will be updated soon
In a blog post posted on Monday ahead of HWC 2025, Halo Studios addressed rumors and speculation about the Halo project currently in development. The studio said it would “continue discussions” at this year’s event on projects first announced at HWC last year.
“Last year at HaloWC, we premiered A New Dawn, where we discussed the transition to Unreal Engine, gave you a behind-the-scenes look at Project Foundry, and debuted our evolution into Halo Studios as we enter the next chapter of Halo,” the company said in the post.
“For us, A New Dawn is just the beginning – we look forward to continuing the conversation at this year’s HaloWC.
“It’s always fun to speculate, but if you want the official scoop on what Halo Studios has been up to, you won’t want to miss this year’s Halo World Championship. We sincerely hope you can join us in Seattle this October!”
The Halo World Championship is scheduled for October 24-26 in Seattle. In this esports event, the top 16 teams will compete for the world championship and a share of the $1 million prize pool.

Multiple Halo games in development
At last year’s HWC, Halo Studios announced that it was developing multiple Halo games in Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. The developer also debuted new Halo footage rendered in Unreal Engine 5, showcasing three different environments and series protagonist Master Chief. The studio said at the time that the clip was not from a Halo game in development, but was part of the “Foundry” project that would serve as the basis for future Halo games. Halo Studios has not revealed a release schedule for the game.
At last month’s Xbox Game Showcase, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer announced a “classic return” next year, hinting that a remaster or remake of Halo: Combat Evolved was in the works. Spencer didn’t mention the title of the game, but said it will be released next year when Xbox celebrates its 25th anniversary.
“As we think about bringing a new generation of players into these iconic franchises, I’m excited to say that players will be able to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary with a new Fable, the next Forza, Gears of War: E-Day, and the return of classics that have been with us since the beginning,” the Xbox boss said at the Xbox Games Showcase.
In addition to the remake/remaster of the first game that may be in development, Halo Studios may also be working on the next mainline Halo game. The last game in the series is Halo Infinite, launching in 2021 on PC and Xbox Series S/X.
