Tributes poured in for security personnel killed in the February 22, 2026 security operation that authorities claimed led to the arrest of the cartel leader Nemesio Oseguera, also known as “El Mencho,” including National Guard officer Nahomi Elizabeth Martínez.

Officer Martinez, who is from Zacatecas, was part of a group of federal agents deployed to Jalisco state for an operation in which authorities claimed security forces were ambushed by a criminal gang linked to the CJNG cartel. Martinez was reportedly killed in the line of duty.
