Dollar stores are strategically located in a wide range of commercial locations, with the number of retail locations in the United States and Canada reaching 39,000 by 2025. Although Dollar Tree itself only operates about 9,000 of these stores, they are still considered the leading retailer in the United States and one of the best dollar store chains overall. It has a knack for understanding its customers’ needs, including a product that solves a truly vexing kitchen sink problem.
It’s a common-sense, clear, hard plastic sponge holder that easily attaches to any inside of your sink and allows you to drain your sponges without the help of human hands. I personally own one of these small sink suction cup attachments and agree that it is one of the best Dollar Tree kitchen organization essentials. It has two suction cups that adhere well to surfaces whether wet or dry. My sink specifically is stainless steel, but I’ve also tried it on ceramic sinks. The good news is that the suction power of both surface types is strong enough to keep it in place even when splashed with hot water and soap residue—which, of course, is what sponge holders are all about.
Your sponge no longer lies flat next to the faucet, on the counter, or at the bottom of the sink, wallowing in residue and water. Instead, it drains out through more than 30 holes of various sizes carved into the bottom of the device. This keeps the sponge well-drained and dry between uses, helping to avoid bacterial build-up and associated odors.

Much to the chagrin of longtime Dollar Tree shoppers, the chain did raise prices on most products to $1.25 through the end of 2021 from the “one dollar” price of the original “dollar store” model. Once customers get used to this price level, Dollar Tree will selectively introduce higher prices on many items, ranging from $1.50 to as much as $7 for premium products. Which raises the question: Where do these handy plastic foam holders fit into the ever-expanding range of merchandise and prices?
Dollar Tree fans may be happy to hear that this suction-cup kitchen workhorse is among the chain’s lowest-priced products. It’s only $1.25 and seems to be well stocked at the Dollar Tree store I frequent. You can also order online, have it delivered to your door or to your local DT store. It’s worth noting that there are two online Dollar Tree websites. One is called the “Same Day” Dollar Tree, where the availability of items, including this one, varies from day to day. The standard Dollar Tree website typically offers more inventory, but many items require bulk purchases. You may not need multiple sponge holders, but you may benefit from purchasing bulk Dollar Tree food or glassware.
As with any suction sink attachment, it’s a good idea to remove it periodically for a quick scrub. Otherwise, water mineralization and soap scum buildup will inevitably begin to occur. It’s a hard-working kitchen helper, so this sponge holder deserves some restorative love every now and then.
