Ryan Garcia can finally call himself a world champion. The 28-year-old Garcia, already one of the most popular names in boxing, secured his place among the best fighters in the welterweight division with a dominant one-sided decision win over Mario Barrios in Las Vegas on Saturday to capture the WBC world title.

Garcia set the tone by knocking Barrios down with a punch in the first round, then easily defeated one of the most maligned title holders in the sport. Garcia ultimately defeated Barrios with a total punch count of 185-106 and a power punch count of 103-43, winning his first official victory since 2023. Garcia then called out WBO super lightweight champion and heavyweight contender Shakur Stevenson, who quickly accepted the challenge during Saturday’s DAZN pay-per-view broadcast.

Considering his notoriety and recent history in the sport – “King Ry” was pulled from a 2024 win over Devin Haney due to a positive Ostarin drug test, then was suspended for a year after a lackluster performance against Roland “Rolly” Romero this past May – it’s no surprise that Garcia’s peak performance has attracted a lot of attention from his fellow fighters.

Check out some of the reactions below, including Haney continuing to push Garcia over the outcome of their infamous fight.
