After hosting Grand Prix at Phillip Island for nearly three decades, the circuit will no longer host the Australian leg of the series – at least for the next six years. From 2027, Adelaide, South Australia’s largest city and the nation’s fifth-largest city, will host a 2.6-mile city center circuit for the Grand Prix championship.

MotoGP chief sporting officer Carlos Ezpeleta and South Australia Premier Peter Malinauskas unveiled the track layout to national media in Adelaide on Thursday 19 February.
It is confirmed that the first Australian Grand Prix will be held over three days in Adelaide in November 2027. The track is approximately 4.195 kilometers long, with 18 turns winding through city streets, allowing riders to reach speeds of over 340 km/h.

The track design follows the blueprint of the famous Adelaide street circuit, which hosted Formula 1 events from 1985 to 1995, but requires significant adjustments to ensure driver safety remains the number one priority.
The city’s layout, culture and passion for major events make Adelaide the perfect venue for a premium festival-style city grand prix – providing a unique opportunity to take the fan experience to the next level.
