The Philippine Embassy in Singapore said it was aware of a video circulating online showing a man attacking a Filipino at Lucky Plaza.

The Philippine Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is also involved, GMA News reported, adding that they are looking into the possibility of legal action.

“This is an assault, a physical assault. This is a crime anywhere in the world, especially in Singapore. We are investigating the matter and filing the necessary legal proceedings,” said DMW secretary Hans Cacdac.

The woman has been identified as a Filipino national working in Singapore. It was unclear what sparked the violent scenes.

“The Embassy is taking appropriate measures through the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and has contacted the victims to provide necessary assistance,” the Philippine Embassy said in a statement. “At this stage, we are careful not to reveal details that may inadvertently affect ongoing measures or exacerbate the situation.”
