Death Stranding 2: The Beach was released on PS5 in June to critical acclaim. This action-adventure game is a direct sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding, continuing the story of Sam Porter Bridges. While a third game in the series may still be years away, Hideo Kojima says he has already written the concept for Death Stranding 3. However, the series’ creator has stated that he currently has no plans to make the game.
Hideo Kojima talks about Death Stranding 3
Hideo Kojima made the remarks during an interview during the “Death Stranding 2” world tour over the weekend. When asked about the possibility of making Death Stranding 3, he stated that he does have the concept of a third Death Stranding game.
“Well, I’m not planning on doing that right now,” Kojima said. “Because the ending of Death Stranding 2 is my ending to Death Stranding 1 and Death Stranding 2.
“But I had written down the concept for DS3, so I had the data. I was hoping someone would create it for me.”
Kojima seems reluctant to personally participate in the production of “Death Stranding 3” – at least not yet. However, Kojima Productions is developing at least two games. Hideo Kojima is working with filmmaker Jordan Peele on OD, a horror game to be published by Xbox Game Studios. The project released a brief trailer at The Game Awards 2023. Recently, Microsoft confirmed that OD is still in production amid widespread Xbox cuts and project cancellations.
Kojima is also developing Physint, an action spy game for Sony. However, the game is still in the concept stage.
Kojima Productions has teamed up with boutique film production company A24 to produce a film adaptation of “Death Stranding”. Hideo Kojima promises that the live-action film will be more than just a “direct translation” of the game. “We are creating a never-before-seen Death Stranding universe that will come to life only through the medium of cinema,” the game designers said when announcing the adaptation in December 2023.
Death Stranding 2 released exclusively on PS5 on June 26 to critical acclaim, becoming one of the most-watched games of 2025. technology shout gave the DS 2 a “9 out of 10” review, calling it “bigger, better, and bolder” than the first game.
