Vincent Kompany’s side got the job done as they earned a hard-fought 2-0 win against a team that looked and played like they were tired of dealing with Bayern Munich. Here are some of the fast batsmen in the match:
-
As always, let’s start with the starting lineup:
-
Apart from Serge Gnabry over Jamal Musiala as an attacking midfielder and Josip Stanišić over Konrad Laimer as a right-back, everything went as expected. Laimer is certainly not quite ready to start, and Bayern Munich may just be taking their time under Musiala. Either way, both moves are shrewd. There is no reason to rush any player.
-
It looked like RB Leipzig would soon prove their quality when, in the fourth minute, Jan Diomand dribbled the ball through the left side of Bayern Munich’s formation before Christoph Baumgartner’s touch went past Neuer. However, the play was ruled out due to an offside call.
-
This was an averted crisis, to say the least.
-
Harry Kane almost scored in the 12th minute, but was blocked by Vandervoort. Kane’s positioning wasn’t great but the keeper had to stop it from close range and it was a blast. Kane probably should have scored two or three goals in the first half.
-
RB Leipzig sounded confident before the game and so after the game.
-
In the 21st minute, Kane made an ambitious slide shot, but he failed to get the ball.
-
RB Leipzig caused some problems for Bayern Munich. The defense also had some sloppy moments.
-
In the 37th minute, David Laum almost lit up the goal, but Neuer stopped the Rockets with his big foot. Neuer performed very well and was a steady presence between the posts.
-
Although many Bayern Munich fans disagreed, the Bavarians were outplayed again in the first half and their defense was poor at best. Bayern Munich desperately needed the half-time break to regroup.
-
Stanisic and Aleksandar Pavlovich both committed card-worthy fouls that could have changed the game in the first half. Bayern Munich was Very Lucky.
-
It’s hard to say how many players consistently performed well in the first half. Davis struggled, except for a few minutes, and Stanisic wasn’t great either. Upamecano went too far and Tower looked too slow. Offensively, the offense isn’t entirely fluid. Having said that, there was no doubt that Bayern could take the lead in the second half.
-
In the 58th minute, Gnabry shot, but Vandervoort hit the spot. It was a strong performance for a goaltender.
-
Interestingly, the combination of Stanisic and Vandevoort produced the most exciting performance of the game. Davis passed Stanisic upfield. After making a great run and touching the ball, Stanisic was knocked down by Vandervoort on a PK. Kane (who else?) stepped onto the spot, going low to the right because Vandervoort guessed the wrong direction. Bayern Munich fans can breathe a sigh of relief…the final score is 1-0.
-
This opened the floodgates. Just three minutes later, Olise passed a diagonal pass to the darting Luis Diaz, who put the ball into the back of the net. The gorgeously coiffed Willy Orbán took an atrocious angle on the match and then, inexplicably, didn’t even try to make physical contact with the Colombian.
-
Overall, Bayern Munich got the job done in a game that was physical and sometimes ugly. Yes, things did look shaky for a while, but it’s extremely difficult to beat a team three times in a season, and Bayern Munich managed to do just that. RB Leipzig are a very good team and the Bavarians controlled them. Travel to Werder Bremen.

Now that we all know that Leon Goretzka will officially leave Bayern Munich this summer, AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are likely to join Arsenal and Atletico Madrid in the race for the Germany international, thus potentially sparking a bidding war for him:
According to Football Market, the Bayern Munich veteran would prefer to move to the Premier League to start the next chapter of his career. Despite the Rossoneri’s clear interest and the club having made numerous contacts with his entourage, it seems increasingly likely that Goretzka will ultimately stay in England.
Competition for his signature is fierce. While Arsenal have long been linked with the 31-year-old, Tottenham Hotspur have also joined the race, offering the Germany international two high-profile London options. For Milan, the obstacles are not only tactical but also financial. The report states that serious wage issues could hamper the club’s growth, with management already well aware of the huge wage demands required to lure him away from Bavaria.
Even through all of this, Goretzka still looks set to receive a nice payday and a destination for the next chapter.

It seems Real Madrid has not given up on its long-term pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Rodri:
Real Madrid are preparing a serious bid for Manchester City midfielder Rodri in the summer, according to TEAMtalk, as the Premier League side prepare for a potential post-Pep Guardiola overhaul. Los Blancos are looking to address an apparent lack of leadership within the squad and view Spanish international Rodri as a potential captain and the perfect person to add some experience and presence. The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner has previously admitted that he would consider a move to the Spanish capital, and with Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola’s future unclear, this summer may be the perfect time to do so.
Bayern Munich are rumored to be interested in Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot, but Sports Illustrated’s Christian Falk says that’s not the case:
“It’s not true: Bayern Munich is interested in Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot,” the head of Bild exclusively told CF Bayern Insider. “Bayern have a list with many, many players on it. Of course, they know the player, but at the moment they don’t have the money to make such a transfer.”
“They have a clear defensive scheme and are still looking for offensive options. The biggest expense is going to be on the offensive line – they’re looking for guys behind Luis Diaz. All other targets are on the back burner until they know what they’re going to do with the position.”
Manchester United reportedly set to lock horns with Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali:
Manchester United want to replace midfielder Casemiro with Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, according to the Daily Telegraph. The 25-year-old’s future at St James’ Park remains unclear after he was linked with a move to Arsenal in January, with United now looking to beat their London rivals to sign a player they hope to see partnering with a resurgent Kobe Mainu next season. Tonali is keen to play in the Champions League next season and could be open to a move. Manchester City and Juventus are both expected to express interest.
It looks like there might be some turnover at Newcastle, yes?
Juventus still haven’t given up hope of signing Randall Kolo Mouani from Paris Saint-Germain:
Juventus look the club most likely to sign Randal Kolo Muani permanently in the summer, with Tottenham Hotspur seemingly unwilling to make his loan deal permanent, according to Teamtalk. The London club are willing to let him leave in January but have not made an offer to his parent club Paris Saint-Germain. Mouani realizes there is little chance he will break into Thomas Frank’s side on a regular basis and although he has saved his best form for the Champions League, he looks set to return to Paris in June. He has two years left on his contract.
