Why former Georgia RB had a bittersweet Super Bowl victory

The Super Bowl is the pinnacle of football. It’s something every kid dreams of winning, but very few achieve.

Former Georgia Bulldogs running back Kenny McIntosh and former Georgia analyst and assistant coach Mike McDonald both accomplished the rare feat during the Seattle Seahawks’ 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60.

Despite the Super Bowl win, this year was a bit bittersweet for McIntosh, who missed the entire 2025 season with a torn ACL. McIntosh will get a Super Bowl ring, but he still has a lot to prove at the NFL level after a season-ending injury.

Entering 2026, McIntosh will have a chance to get more playing time if he fully recovers. Seattle lost running back Zach Charbonette in the playoffs to a torn ACL, and Charbonnet is unlikely to return for the start of the regular season. Had McIntosh been healthy after Charbonne’s injury, he would have had a good chance of seeing playoff snaps, but those snaps were taken away by George Holani.

McIntosh will compete with Holani as Seattle’s secondary running back behind Kenneth Walker next season. McIntosh will enter a contract year in 2026 that will make him $1.1 million per year, so he will have to prove his worth again to justify a spot on the Seahawks’ roster.
