Tony Dungy refuses to say whether he voted for Bill Belichick in the Pro Football Hall of Fame process, arguing instead that the voting system itself is the real problem.

Tony Dungy refuses to reveal Bill Belichick’s vote
Pro Football Hall of Fame voter Tony Dungy was asked directly if he supports Bill Belichick. He declined to answer, saying he would not reveal his personal vote.
Dungy said he is more concerned about the structure of the Hall of Fame voting process than individual votes.
He pointed to the limitations voters face in choosing from among a plethora of candidates.
“I’m not going to talk about my vote. I think the process is more important than any individual voter.”

Dungy questions Hall of Fame voting structure
Given Belichick’s long career and accomplishments in the NFL, his absence is cause for concern. Dungy said such results reflected wider problems with the way the selection system worked.
He noted that despite the large number of qualified candidates, voters must still choose a limited number of inductees.
Dungy said such restrictions could result in high-profile figures being excluded. Dungy reiterated that he would not comment on how he voted.
“When you have so many qualified people and you can only put a handful in, people are going to be left out. That’s why I say process is the bigger issue.”

He said any debate should focus on voting frameworks rather than personal choices.
