Justice Department Announces Arrest of Suspect in Benghazi Attack

minister of justice Pam Bundy Announced that the Department of Justice has arrested a suspect in the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya.

The attack, carried out by the militant group Ansar al-Sharia, coincided with the 11th anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center. It targeted two U.S. facilities, killing a U.S. ambassador and two CIA contractors, among others.

At a press conference Friday morning, Bundy said:

Ambassador: We lost 4 Americans that day Chris Stevens, Sean Smith with the State Department and two CIA contractors – Glenn Dougherty and Tyrone Woods. We never forget these heroes, and we never stop seeking justice for the crimes against our country. In fact, from day one, [FBI Director Kash Patel] and [former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino] would sit in meetings and say, “We’re going to catch them,” and they did. Today, I am proud to announce that the FBI has arrested one of the key players in the Benghazi attack.

The suspect was identified as Zubair BakushBundy added that he arrived at Joint Base Andrews early Friday morning. She continued:

We will prosecute this alleged terrorist to the fullest extent of the law. He faces charges related to murder, terrorism, arson and more. Let this case remind us: If you commit crimes against the American people anywhere in the world, President Trump’s Department of Justice will find you. It may not happen overnight, but it will happen. You can run away, but you can’t hide.
