Pep Guardiola issues travel complaint over Carabao Cup Final against Arsenal

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has questioned the arrangements for March’s Carabao Cup final against Arsenal.

Manchester City dominated the semi-finals with a stunning two-legged victory over Newcastle at Wembley Stadium. The second leg at the Etihad Stadium erased any lingering doubts, with Guardiola rotating effectively and his side still overwhelming Eddie Howe’s side to secure a tenth appearance in the competition final.

With Erling Haaland rested on Wednesday night, Omar Mamounsch has taken his chance, while the likes of Tijjani Reynders continue to blend seamlessly with established figures. The combination of rotation and control reflects Guardiola’s wider message this season about team management, fitness and maintaining standards.

However, attention quickly turned from the performance itself to the future, with City now set to face an Arsenal side widely regarded as one of the most complete teams in Europe at the moment in a heavyweight domestic final between the two clubs.

Looking ahead to next month’s final against Arsenal, Guardiola told TV broadcasters after the win over Newcastle: “We’re going to London and they [Arsenal] Will wait for us there.

“We travel all the time. Never [the opposition] Travel to the North of England [for a Final]”.

Guardiola also talked about the match against Arteta’s team, “It’s great to play against Arsenal. They are the best team in Europe at the moment and even the best team in the world in many aspects; statistics, stability and many details that they control. As long as we play against them, it will make us better.”

“I just pray that I can have [Manchester City] The players are fit and I have enough players to try and compete with Arsenal. “

Guardiola’s comments echoed common frustrations with Wembley as the default finals venue, particularly for clubs in the north of England.

While Arsenal will also travel, albeit closer, the City boss has long stressed the cumulative impact of logistics, recovery time and end-of-season preparations.

Much may depend on fitness in the weeks leading up to the final, with Guardiola having been vocal about managing minutes and avoiding overloading City as they compete on multiple fronts.

City will arrive at Wembley confident if his key players are still available, although he noted the challenge posed by Arsenal’s side, whom Pep Guardiola himself has described as a benchmark for European football.
