Resident Evil Requiem is coming to Switch 2
Capcom confirmed three Resident Evil games during Friday’s Nintendo Direct, where it announced a slew of first- and third-party games for Switch 2. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village will be available in Gold Edition on the hybrid console.
Resident Evil Requiem was announced at the Summer Game Festival in June and also received a second trailer on Nintendo Direct. The new trailer shows the game’s protagonist, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, exploring a mansion from a first-person perspective. Resident Evil Requiem can be played from first-person and third-person perspectives.
It is worth noting that the cloud-based Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village were released on Nintendo Switch in 2018 and 2022 respectively. Now, native versions of these games are coming to the more powerful Switch 2 next year.
News leaked last week (via VGC ) that Capcom is developing Switch 2 ports of all six Resident Evil games developed on its in-house RE engine. These include remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4, as well as Resident Evil, Village and Requiem – which have already been confirmed. Capcom is also likely to announce a remaster of its recent Switch 2 RE at some point.
Resident Evil Requiem will take players back to the abandoned ruins of Raccoon City, where they will play as young FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft as she investigates a series of mysterious deaths caused by an unidentified disease. The survival horror game will feature the series’ signature combat, investigation, puzzles and resource management. The game will launch on January 27, 2026 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo Switch 2.
