Apple Watch AFib History Now Available in India; Here’s How to Set Up and Use This Feature

Apple Watch has multiple functions that can track various health indicators such as blood oxygen (SpO2), heart rate, sleep time, respiratory rate, etc. Now, Apple has announced the launch of atrial fibrillation (AFib) history feature in India. It allows users to track how often their heart shows signs of AFib and record life factors that may affect heart conditions. Users can also share PDF files of AFib patterns with doctors. Last year, with the release of watchOS 9, the Cupertino giant launched the AFib History feature overseas. This health tracking feature is compatible with domestic Apple Watch Series 4 and subsequent models.

AFib is an irregular heart rhythm in which the upper chambers of the heart beat out of sync with the lower chambers. This can lead to heart failure or lead to blood clots in the heart. Apple introduced the AFib History feature in watchOS 9 during WWDC 2022 last year after receiving approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Now, Apple has announced the launch of AFib History in India. With this feature, users can track heart rate frequencies that show signs of AFib. Currently, users of Apple Watch Series 4 and above running watchOS 9 can use the feature in the country.

People who have been diagnosed with AFib can use this function to understand the status of atrial fibrillation during a specific period. Users can also share PDF files of AFib patterns with doctors. They can also track lifestyle factors that may affect their health.

In some regions, Apple allows users to share AFib history data in PDF form. PDF can be shared to contacts, saved to Files app or AirDropped to another device Options > Export PDF > Share button.

According to Apple’s support page, the AFib feature is available to people 22 and older who have been diagnosed with the disease. Consumers must seek medical attention when experiencing any pain. Users need to wear their Apple Watch at least 5 days a week for at least 12 hours a day to continue receiving AFib history estimates. Additionally, heart rate and wrist detection must be enabled on the device.

Apple Watch is not a medical device, but the above features can be used to monitor health conditions and it is recommended to seek medical help if you notice anything unusual.
