Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV Officially Goes on Sale in China: Price, Features

The Xiaomi YU7 is now available in China, the company announced at the Human x Car x Home event on Thursday. Launched in May, the Chinese company’s latest electric vehicle (EV) joins Xiaomi’s growing fleet, which includes the Mi SU7 sedan and its high-performance variant, the SU7 Ultra. The electric SUV is available in three trim levels, from standard to maximum. The arrival of the Xiaomi YU7 is a challenge to the Tesla Model Y, which is popular in the Chinese automotive industry.

Xiaomi YU7 is priced starting at CNY 253,500 (approximately Rs. 30 lakh) for the standard version, which is the ultra-long-range rear-wheel drive (RWD) version of the electric car. The Xiaomi YU7 Pro and YU7 Max models are sold in all-wheel drive (AWD) and high-performance AWD variants at CNY 279,900 (approx. Rs. 33 lakh) and CNY 329,900 (approx. Rs. 39 lakh) respectively.

Xiaomi YU7 is available in three colors: emerald green, titanium silver and lava orange. The electric SUV is also available in three interior color options; light shades of Pine Grey, Coral Orange and Twilight Blue.

Xiaomi YU7’s design is inspired by the company’s SU7 sedan, but in an SUV format. This electric SUV does not use the “water drop” headlights on the sedan, but uses hollow headlights, which are said to provide 180-degree ultra-wide-angle lighting. At the back, it has a halo taillight with a downward angle.

In terms of size, the EV measures 4,999 x 1,996 x 1,600mm, has a curb weight of 2,405kg, and a wheelbase of 3,000mm. Xiaomi YU7 has successfully passed more than 50 passive safety development tests and all crash standards under the C-NCAP and C-IASI protocols. It is equipped with Brembo four-piston fixed calipers and a quadruple braking safety mechanism. To provide better control and stability on various terrains, it is equipped with front double wishbone and rear five-link independent suspension, closed dual-chamber air springs with continuous damping control and Xiaomi intelligent chassis.

It is powered by the Xiaomi HyperEngine V6s Plus electric motor, which features an upgraded power module and optimized topology optimization algorithm to improve speed, torque and power figures. According to the company, the dual-motor four-wheel-drive version of the EV has a 0-100 acceleration time of 3.23 seconds and a top speed of 253 km/h. The electric motor has a maximum horsepower of 690 PS and a peak power of 508 kW.

The entry-level standard version of Xiaomi YU7 is equipped with a 96.3kWh battery pack that can provide 835 kilometers of cruising range (CLTC). At the same time, the top-of-the-line Max CLTC has a cruising range of up to 770 kilometers and a battery pack capacity of 101.7kWh. According to officials, Xiaomi YU7 can be charged from 10% to 80% in 12 minutes, and can have a range of 620 kilometers after 15 minutes of charging. The electric vehicle has a maximum charging rate of 5.2C and is powered by an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform with a peak voltage of 897V.
