Regional knockout tournaments will also be held in the city in 2027 for football, basketball, hockey, badminton, netball and rugby.

Iain McKinney, head of sport at the university, said hosting the event was “an important opportunity” to demonstrate the university’s commitment to student sport.

He added that he hopes to create “unforgettable experiences” for participants in the Conference Cup, Trophy and Shield competitions.

The event will bring volunteering opportunities to staff and students and will be hosted on-site at Coventry University.

BUCS regional competition coordinator Kristian Jackson said that for many, the final was the “pinnacle of the season” with “medals to be won and local bragging rights at stake”.

He added: “For many students, these events represent the highest level of competition they are likely to experience, so an exceptional event environment is vital to help inspire continued participation in sport after university.”
