CHICAGO (WGN) — The Archdiocese of Chicago announced it will close six schools at the end of the school year.
The superintendent acknowledged the school’s deep ties to the community, but said low enrollment and ongoing fiscal deficits made closure inevitable.
The following schools will close at the end of the school year:
-
Our Lady of Humility in Beach Park
-
Holy. Bruno and Richard in Chicago
-
St. Hubert at Hoffman Estates
-
St. Francis of Borgia in Chicago
-
St. Stanislaus Kostka in Chicago
“It is with a heavy heart that we have made these decisions after months of discussions with each school,” Superintendent Greg Richmond said in a statement. “Many people at each school worked hard to raise funds and try to increase enrollment. We recognize and value these efforts, but ultimately, the school was unable to close the gap and it was no longer sustainable.”
