Cameron Smotherman stepped off the scale and faced the stage after weighing in for his bantamweight bout with Ricky Turcios at the UFC 324 weigh-ins on Friday morning. Smotherman lay on the ground for several minutes while paramedics arrived to help.
Smotherman was eventually carried off the stage and taken to the hospital.
Now is really not the time to give a soap opera speech about weight loss, but…yeah, it sucks.

The 28-year-old Smotherman (12-6) has lost back-to-back losses to Serhiy Sidey and Ricky Simon and is now 1-2 in the promotion. UFC fans may remember the bantamweight “Babyface Killer” from his brief appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series in the summer of 2023, when Smothersman failed to defeat Charalampos Grigoriou.
