Jake Tapper Shames Karoline Leavitt for Lying About Trump’s Greenland-Iceland Mix-Up: ‘Let’s Roll the Tape’

Jake Tapper shamed Caroline Leavitt on Wednesday after White House press secretary falsely claimed President Donald Trump confused Greenland with Iceland during a speech at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

The CNN host posted a video on his personal X account mocking Levitt for saying the president wasn’t “confusing anything.”

“I mean, you knew that was being filmed, right?” Tapper asked in disbelief.

Watch a video of Tapper’s breakdown, which includes the clip in question, below:

“Earlier today, during a speech in Davos, Switzerland, President Trump referred to Greenland, a territory he wants to seize or buy from Denmark, at least three times and referred to Greenland as Iceland three times,” Tapper said before introducing Levitt’s defense.

“When a reporter pointed this out on

To which Tapper responded: “Let’s do it.”

Speaking in Davos on Wednesday, Trump apparently said “Iceland” several times when he meant “Greenland.” “They love me when I tell them about Iceland. They call me Dad,” he said suddenly. “Our stock market fell for the first time yesterday because of Iceland. So Iceland has cost us a lot of money,” he said in another post.

“This all reminds me of this great and terrifying quote from George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984,” Tapper mused in his social video.

“‘The Party told you to reject the evidence from your eyes and ears. This is their last, most important order,'” the host quoted. “But we’re not living in 1984, and we don’t have to reject the evidence of our eyes and ears. We know he confused Iceland with Greenland or Greenland with Iceland. I mean, you can lie to us if you want, but I don’t know why it’s worth it.”
