Hugo Ekitike’s REGEN is already at Liverpool and he’s special

The playing style of Joshua Sonny Lambie from Liverpool’s youth academy is almost a carbon copy of Ekitic’s. The 17-year-old has the same movement and creativity.

He’s not just a goalscorer, he also plays deep, he loves to challenge players and create chances for others.

The youngster has already contributed 20 goals in 24 games for the club this season.

His latest goal came in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend, with Sonny Lambie scoring a much-needed winner, having also scored against Stoke City the previous weekend.

So just like Ekitek, when Liverpool need him most, he steps up. But there was more to his performance than just scoring goals.

In games against Newcastle and Stoke City, Sonny Lambie kept coming back and taking part in the build-up. His movement confuses defenders while creating space for himself and his teammates.

Linking plays and movement are his best abilities. This is why, despite being a striker, he is often used as a false nine or an attacking midfielder behind the striker.

He was only selected by Liverpool at the age of 14 and has no experience in youth training. Apart from playing grassroots football in London, his playing style is somewhat free.

Sonni-Lambie often comes up with creative solutions, similar to Ekitike. He’s not afraid to tap his heels, or try something extraordinary.

He is the ultimate entertainer and has already contributed to 20 goals this season, and he will certainly strive to get himself opportunities at the next level and possibly even get a first-team opportunity given the lack of depth in the position.

The future lineup of Sonny Lambie and Ekitic could be very special.
