Man killed in overnight hit-skip: Cleveland police

CLEVELAND (WJW) — A man approximately 35 years old was killed early Saturday morning when he was struck by a vehicle that police believe was speeding and losing control.

According to Cleveland police, the crash happened around 2:45 a.m. in the 13900 block of Lorain Avenue. There, police found the victim unconscious on the road.

Cleveland EMS arrived on scene and provided medical assistance to the victim, who was later transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed the man was walking on Lorain Avenue when the vehicle “believed to be traveling at an excessive speed, lost control and struck him”.

The suspect vehicle left the scene before police arrived.
