California officials say a 19-year-old woman in suburban Los Angeles committed a suspected murder-suicide that left three family members dead.
According to an update from the Sheriff’s Department on January 16, at approximately 8 a.m. on January 15, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about an attack on a residence in Lakewood, California, with a deadly weapon.
The caller, the family’s eldest daughter, told authorities her father shot her. She said he was now lying on the floor unconscious.

The daughter said she was awakened by gunfire inside the home, officials said. She then saw her father, Hector Lionel Alfaro, 52, approaching her with a handgun, officials said.
He shot her several times but missed her. He then stood near her and shot himself, according to officials.
Deputies searched the home and found Alfaro in the home’s den with a gunshot wound to his upper body.
In a bedroom, deputies found a 48-year-old woman, Alfaro’s wife, with a gunshot wound to her torso. In the second bedroom, officers later found Alfaro’s youngest daughter, 17, shot in the upper body.
The father, wife and young daughter were pronounced dead at the scene. Officers found two firearms in the home.
A sheriff’s spokesman said there was no indication that a suspect was at large. The Sheriff’s Department declined to answer additional questions about the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
Lakewood is located approximately 15 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles and has a population of nearly 79,000 people.
