Tomas Machac and Jakub Mensik ensured it was a perfect day for the Czech Republic on Saturday ahead of the start of the Australian Open.
Mensik won the ASB Classic, while Machac also matched the success of his compatriots by winning the Adelaide International.

Mencic defeated Sebastian Baez 6-3, 7-6 (9-7) to win the title in New Zealand. A little more than 3,200 kilometers away in Adelaide, Machak defeated Ugo Humbert 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 to win his second ATP Tour title.
“I’m happy that after my injury, I was able to win a trophy at this moment and show a high level of tennis,” Machak said.
Mencic said after the game: “I am very happy that after my preparation and pre-season, when you are obviously not in the rhythm and you will come into the new season with a lot of energy, I showed the performance I wanted. I am very happy for the victory.”
According to the ATP Tour, this is the first time since Ivan Lendl and Thomas Smid in 1982 that two Czech men have won a tour-level title in the same week.

In the women’s event in Adelaide, Mirra Andreeva won 12 of her last 13 matches to claim the title with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Victoria Mboko.
At the Hobart International, Elisabetta Cocciaretto defeated third seed Iva Jovic 6-4, 6-4 to win her second career WTA Tour singles title.
