Jan 15 (Reuters) – 41-year-old Lindsey Vonn may dominate World Cup downhill racing, but even the American speed queen is not immune to missing equipment.
Vonn made an unusual plea on social media on Thursday after losing a ski pole in Tarvisio, Italy, ahead of this weekend’s World Cup event.

“Someone took my pole from the parking lot in Tarvisio today. If you saw it, please respond. Thank you,” Vonn wrote on X, posting a photo of the matching pole with her initials on the wristband.
Vonn, the favorite to compete in the speed event at next month’s Olympics in Milan-Cortina, retired in 2019 and had partial knee replacement surgery in April 2024, but returned later that year and enjoyed a fairytale comeback that defied age and expectations.
Vonn, already the oldest ever World Cup winner, continued her impressive, age-defying form with a downhill victory in Zauchensee, Austria, last week.
The victory marked Vonn’s fourth podium finish from four downhills this season, solidifying her lead in the World Cup standings and her status as the woman to beat at next month’s Olympics.
