A rock legend has sparked a heated debate online after publishing a critical editorial about President Donald Trump on his website.
“People wake up!” rock musician Neil Young wrote on his Neil Young Archives website. “America today is a disaster. Donald Trump is destroying America piece by piece, run by wannabes, people without experience and talent, wife beaters who drink in private, inexperienced leaders who only know how to lie to please Trump’s hypocrisy. So they can keep their unearned jobs in his incompetent administration filled with heartless Republicans like morons… Yeah. How did we elect these spineless, valueless, conscienceless bastards? There is no way to save America.
“We need to take Trump at his word,” Yang continued. “Make America great again. It won’t be easy when he tries to turn our cities into battlegrounds so he can pass (military) law to nullify our elections and evade all accountability.”
Yang continued, “Something has to be done to change this. We know what to do. Stand up. Millions of people are living in peace. Too many innocent people are dying.”
“It’s cold here in America,” he said. “There was no ICE before Trump. There were no soldiers on the streets before Trump. Every move he made was to create instability so he could stay in power. He knows nothing about love. He doesn’t know who you are. Use your love for life, your love for each other, your love for your children, yours, theirs and ours. Peacefully. Now.”
Yang’s post received mixed reactions online.
“I don’t care what this Canadian thinks,” one X user said of Young. “Do I like his music? Oh my gosh, I do. He’s a talented (expletive). But his perspective means less to me than a bucket of piss.”
Another person wrote: “Grandpa, hold on to your dolemi. Leave politics to the patriots.”
While the singer has received her fair share of criticism, some have praised Young for speaking out.
“Everyone around the world needs to use their voice and pulpit, no matter how big or small, to demand Trump’s resignation,” one user said. “Our lives depend on it.”
“Love Neil Young,” someone else wrote. “Keep rocking in the free world.”
