Joe Rogan Says he understands both sides of the illegal immigration debate — including those comparing the president donald trump ICE raids adolf hitler’s Gestapo.
Rogan spoke about the issue with guest senators on his podcast. Rand Paul (R-KY) Tuesday. The podcast star said he understands why conservatives believe ICE raids are necessary to “undo some of the damage caused by illegal immigration.”
He then said he also saw “the perspective” of anti-ICE protesters, who believe “you don’t want military personnel roaming the streets, arresting people – many of whom turn out to be U.S. citizens and just don’t have their papers. Are we really going to be the Gestapo? ‘Where are your papers?’ Is that where we are?”
Rogen made the comments while discussing the filming Renee Goode Last week in Minnesota. He said he read last year that the agent who shot Goode was run over by a car, but he still felt it was a “terrible tragedy” that should not have happened.
He said:
I’m not that guy, I don’t know what he was thinking, this is another guy who almost got run over. But this looks terrible to me.
She seemed to want to drive away when people said it was justified because the car hit him.
It looked like she was crazy from the start. The lady looked crazy.
Paul told Rogan he didn’t want to get into too many “specific details” of the incident because he didn’t want to “judge like a jury.” The senator said he thinks ICE agents have a “very difficult job,” and Rogan agreed but mostly avoided talking about last week’s shootings.
Another “problem” with ICE raids, Rogan said, is that they make agents look like “villains” to many citizens.
“People now see them as brutal military men on the streets of our cities,” Rogan said. “And they’re wearing masks, which is also a problem.”
If you are pulled over by police, you can ask for their name and badge number, he said. But “if you’re arrested by an ICE agent, you don’t have that right. They don’t have to tell you this crap.”
Rogan, meanwhile, said he understands why ICE officials want to remain anonymous — because they fear anti-ICE protesters will ruin their lives.
