Some in the Trump administration are reportedly concerned about the speed with which officials have declared “domestic terrorism” in the wake of the Minnesota mother’s shooting death by ICE. Renee Goode.

Goode shot to death by ICE agents Jonathan RossAfter Goode refused to leave her van, he filmed the incident on his cell phone and fired three shots.

secretary of homeland security Kristi Noem Good immediately accused her of “domestic terrorism” by trying to “hit them with her car.”

Vice President JD Vance and chairman Donald Trump All repeated Noem’s talking points, and Vance accused the media of lying about the incident.

Politico reported on Friday that “even the president’s supporters” are concerned that such an aggressive approach “could undermine public confidence in ongoing investigations.”

A person close to the administration told Politico, “Do I think this is domestic terrorism? Yes, I do. But it’s probably not wise to say that in the first place, how do you do that?” [Noem] Said. “

Another administration official worried about the incident widening political divisions told Politico, “I don’t know how we’re going to recover from this.”

They continued, “This is a huge problem and it’s not good to look at and it’s not something our government should be remotely involved in.”

Video of the shooting circulated on social media, with some experts calling it a “Rorschach test” for conservatives and liberals.

On Friday, Vance released a new video angle that he claimed showed the officer fired in self-defense, but liberals noted Goode’s demeanor and words she told the agent — “It’s okay, man. I’m not mad at you” — before she appeared to turn the wheel away from the agent in an apparent attempt to leave the scene.

Department of Homeland Security Spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin Vance commented on the released video, telling Politico, “If you weaponize a vehicle that is a deadly weapon and is used to kill a federal law enforcement officer or cause bodily harm to a federal law enforcement officer, that is an act of domestic terrorism and will be prosecuted as such.”

President Trump said Friday he supports the FBI’s unusual move to block state officials from investigating the incident because Minnesota’s governor Tim Waltz (D) is “a stupid person.”
