Pritchard scores 28 points as the Celtics beat the short-handed Raptors 125-117

BOSTON (AP) — Payton Pritchard had 28 points and eight assists and the Boston Celtics beat the short-handed Toronto Raptors 125-117 on Friday night.

Jaylen Brown added 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Celtics, who won for the fifth time in six games. Boston made 14 three-pointers in the second half and shot 54% from the field to help the team open the score.

The loss ended the Raptors’ three-game winning streak. They were without starters Brandon Ingram (sprained right thumb) and Scottie Barnes (sprained right knee). Toronto center Jakob Poeltl also missed his ninth straight game with a back sprain.

RJ Barrett and Ja’Kobe Walter added 19 points for Toronto. Immanuel Quickley scored 17 points and 13 assists.

The Raptors made just seven 3-pointers in their win over Charlotte, but in one game they tied the Celtics with 18 straight points from beyond the arc and led 68-60 at halftime.

Boston found its groove in the third quarter, going on a 13-3 run to extend its lead to 93-73.

With a little more than six minutes left in the game, Toronto gradually tied the game and recovered the score at 108-103. But the Celtics’ 12-3 spurt expanded the lead back to double digits.

Raptors: Host Philadelphia on Sunday for the first of back-to-back games against the 76ers.

Celtics: Host the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night.
