Chase Young recognized as NFC Defensive Player of the Month

Congratulations to Chase Young. The New Orleans Saints defensive end was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for December and January. This is the first time he has won this award since December of 2020, his rookie year.

In many ways, Young has rediscovered the playmaking ability that made him famous. He finished the year strong with five sacks, six tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown in arguably New Orleans’ best performance of the year) in five games. Not many pass rushers are as good as he is down the stretch. That’s a big reason why the Saints are so optimistic heading into the offseason.

Hopefully Young can keep the pressure on in 2026. He excelled in Brandon Staley’s 3-4 defensive scheme, lining up within the frame of wide outside blockers and using his size and speed to get past them. If we’ve seen the last of Cameron Jordan in New Orleans (and hopefully we haven’t), Young has done enough to be considered a worthy successor.
