Former Kansas State wide receiver Jayce Brown has committed to play for the LSU football team through the 2026 season. He is ranked No. 10 in the On3 portal rankings and No. 21 in the 247Sports rankings. In three seasons with the Wildcats, Brown totaled 115 catches for 1,972 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging nearly 60 receiving yards per game.
While Brown’s current standing among his peers may not wow Tigers fans, he does have a chance to surpass it next season. He’s not intended to be the exciting pass-catcher that LSU fans are used to, with names like Malik Nabors, Brian Thomas Jr., Justin Jefferson and Jamaal Chase popping up in Baton Rouge in recent years, but he’s the perfect complement to Lane Kiffin’s offense.

Brown primarily operates out of position, with 70.4% of his routes in 2025 being in position. However, that doesn’t mean he’s the kind of polished route runner who has trouble winning depth. Brown’s 2.93 yards per route run ranks eighth among the top four receivers with at least 30 targets this season, according to PFF. Here’s a perfect example of Brown’s ability to separate the frontcourt from the start of the season:
Even though Brown is six feet tall, he has enough athletic skills to make defenders miss in the open field. He’s only had four forced missed tackles this season, but his ability to be a great option with the ball – both after the catch and as a pure runner – is still evident.
Then all he does is move the stick. Brown is an elite runner who consistently created separation at all three levels during his time at Kansas State.
Then again, Brown probably shouldn’t be the centerpiece of the offense. His skills are somewhat limited, likely keeping him from being the most productive and impactful receiver on the team. However, he does bring quality skills that can be paired with whomever Kiffin and his staff sign next.
