Plow truck driver dies en route to Hornell hospital after Troupsburg crash

The driver of a 2024 Freightliner plow truck died Thursday, Jan. 1, after a crash on Greenold Road in Troupsburg Township.

New York State Police were dispatched to Greenold Road in response to a report of a plow truck that had rolled over and became stuck at approximately 6:56 a.m.

A 44-year-old man was extricated from the plow truck before police arrived and transported to St. James Hospital in Hornell by emergency medical services. He succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

According to police, officers found a 2024 Freightliner plow truck parked on the passenger side on the south shoulder of the road. The vehicle ran off the road for unknown reasons.

The Steuben County Coroner responded and ordered an autopsy to determine the official cause of death, police said. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. The driver’s identity has not been released.
