Colorado football offers Louisiana Tech DB Michael Richard

Colorado State football continues to target players at the productive five-man and FCS level on portal day.

Former Louisiana Tech defensive back Michael Richard was one of several portal entrants to receive an offer from the scalps on the first day of the official portal window.

Richard finished 2025 with 39 tackles, including five tackles for loss, three interceptions and three pass breakups. According to his social media accounts, he holds offers from Buffalo and Michigan State. 247Sports ranks him as a three-star transfer prospect, with the safety ranked No. 63 overall.

He was named a 2023 Freshman All-American and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Richard was the second defensive back Colorado offered Friday, a sign that the position needs a complete rebuild following the departure of top cornerback DJ McKinney. The scalps and Deion Sanders also offered star cornerback Justin Eglin to James Madison. Both players will be two important additions to a CU defense that needs an influx of talent.
