PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Officials with the Pine Bluff Police Department confirmed Sunday that formal charges have been filed against a man in connection with missing 43-year-old woman Joyelle Brandon.
Tony Thompson Jr., 31, faces charges of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse and is being held on $1 million bail, according to a news release.

According to police, Brandon was last missing on May 13, when she sent a text message to her family asking them to open the door because she would be returning home later that night. But she never returned, and her calls and text messages stopped altogether, her family and police said.
Brandon’s body has not been found, but the investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to work with the victim’s family.
