NFL Week 18 opening odds: Eagles favored by more than a touchdown at home

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Philadelphia Eagles are 7.5-point favorites against the Washington Commanders at home in Week 18.

We haven’t learned the Eagles’ official intentions in terms of whether or not to field a starter, but this quote seems to indicate that they won’t just give up on the No. 2 seed that might be offered to them. Or maybe it’s about the Jays’ backups being able to beat Washington no matter what.

Elsewhere of interest for the Eagles, the Chicago Bears are just 1.5 points ahead heading into Week 18 at home against the Detroit Lions. It’s surprising the Bears aren’t favored more, as they’re motivated to win to secure the No. 2 seed, while the Lions have already been eliminated from playoff contention. It looks like oddsmakers expect Dan Campbell’s team to struggle no matter what.

If you put the Eagles moneyline and the Lions moneyline together, the odds for this scenario are +160. It’s unlikely, no, but it’s not far-fetched either.

The idea here is that the Eagles will win in Week 18. The GMs probably won’t give up because they don’t like the way Philadelphia beat them in Week 16. But their efforts may not matter as Josh Johnson will likely start at quarterback for them.

I think the Eagles will win and cover, even with Tanner McGee and the bench playing most of the game. What did you say?
