WWE could be going very nice or very evil very quickly – that is, if all goes according to plan. News has been circulating regarding the status of Danhausen’s AEW contract, with Danhausen potentially looking to join the likes of Cody Rhodes and Jed Cargile in making the jump from AEW to WWE on the eve of his contract’s expiration.
Recently, Fightful Select added to Fightful’s Danhausen contract saga with a report from WrestleVotes Radio. According to reports, WWE insiders are keeping an eye on the free agent, whose contract expires in February. According to these inside sources, WWE believes Danhausen, a niche character best described as a carefree monster, will thrive in “NXT.” It’s unclear if WWE is considering bringing Danhausen to the main roster now that he’s signed, or if they’ll be content with keeping him on “NXT” for the foreseeable future.

Reports of Danhausen’s AEW status come with the former AEW mainstay’s complete absence from television appearances. Danhausen has not appeared on AEW programming since Armageddon: Zero Hour in 2023 and on ROH programming since ROH Final Battle in 2024. According to sources, Danhausen was supposed to be released from his AEW contract in the summer after asking that stoppage time not count toward his obligations. AEW didn’t seem to meet that demand and kept him off television after his contract expired. Although Danhausen has stayed away from television, he has remained very active on the independent scene. In his final match, he captured the FWF Tag Team Championship with Bobby Orlando at CAP Wrestling’s eighth annual Major Pod Holiday Toy Drive.
Danhausen’s unique personality could challenge WWE’s creative team just as it does AEW’s. However, money talks, and the amount of merchandise Danhausen had in his prime could make the professional wrestling group start looking at him in February.
