Wittenberg graduate named new head football coach at Ohio University

A local college graduate has been named the new head coach at an FBS college.

John Hauser was officially promoted to director of football at Ohio University on Saturday, according to the university’s athletic department.

He was previously named interim coach on December 1

Hauser becomes No. 31Yingshi head coach in program history.

“We are excited to announce Hauser as our next head football coach,” Ohio State athletic director Slade Ruskilled said. “John is committed to growing our team while continuing to build on a strong foundation. The success has been evident since he arrived on campus in 2022.”

On December 23, Hauser led the Bobcats to a 17-10 victory over the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in the Frisco Bowl.

This marks Ohio State’s seventh consecutive bowl victory.

Hauser was a four-year starting safety while playing football at Wittenberg.

In 2002, he was selected to the All-American Division III team.
