More details on plane crash that killed NASCAR driver Greg Beaver He and his family surfaced during an investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board, but officials are still unsure who was behind the wheel of the plane.
“At this time, we are unable to verify who was flying the aircraft,” NTSB board member Michael Graham said at a press conference on Friday, December 19. “We do know that three of the passengers did have pilot licenses, but we are unable to verify that at this time. That is one of the things we are dealing with.”
Graham did not name the individuals holding pilot licenses, but Biffle, 55, and Dennis DuttonTwo people also on board were pilots.
News broke on Thursday, December 18, that a Biffler Cessna C550 crashed and caught fire shortly after takeoff from Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina. The business jet was scheduled to fly to Sarasota, Florida, and then to the Bahamas. The plane was then scheduled to fly to Fort Lauderdale and then return to North Carolina.
