Arrest warrant issued in connection with Brown University mass shooting, reports say

Arrest warrants were issued Thursday in connection with Saturday night’s fatal mass shooting at Brown University, local news outlets reported.

Earlier in the day, multiple local news stations and newspapers reported that law enforcement sources told them that investigators had released multiple photos and videos over the past few days and had identified those involved. Around 5 p.m., multiple local news stations reported that an arrest warrant had been issued in connection with the Dec. 13 shooting.

Additionally, numerous news outlets reported that police sources told them that law enforcement was investigating a possible connection between the Brown University shooting and Monday’s killing of an MIT professor at his Brookline home. Officials have previously denied the two incidents were related.

Around 5:30 pm on Thursday, multiple local news stations reported that police were searching for the Brown University shooter in southern New Hampshire. The investigation is reportedly focusing on a car of a similar make and model to one seen near the scene of the shooting in Brookline.

Providence police officials declined to confirm whether a person of interest in Thursday afternoon’s mass shooting at Brown University has been identified. FBI Boston and Norfolk County district attorney officials have previously declined to comment on whether police are investigating a connection between Brown’s shooting and the shooting of MIT physics professor Nuno F.G. Loureiro.

The Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office previously said Lorero, 47, was shot to death Monday night at his home on Gibbs Street in Brookline. As of 5 p.m. Thursday, no arrests had been made in connection with his killing.
