A Cessna C550 business jet crashed Thursday morning while landing at Statesville Regional Airport, the FAA confirmed.
According to public records, the plane is owned by NASCAR driver Greg Biffle. The tail number is N257BW and it belongs to GB Aviation Leasing. Its address is the same as Biffle.
We didn’t know who was on the plane.
The first call to emergency services was made at about 10:20 a.m.

Channel 9’s Dave Faherty is at the airport where more first responders are arriving. Roads around the airport were blocked.
A witness at nearby Lakewood Golf Club said the plane was “too low” before it crashed.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom was on its way to crash but our pilot had to turn around due to poor weather conditions.
There was fog at the airport, but it was unclear whether the weather played a role in the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate.
Cessna aircraft can accommodate approximately 7-8 people.
Officials have not yet confirmed who was on board and whether anyone died.
