Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named FIFA’s best men’s goalkeeper for 2025.
Manchester City’s No.25 beat Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer, Arsenal’s David Raya, Inter Milan’s Jan Sommer and Barcelona’s Wojciech Szczesny to win the prestigious award.

Nominators were chosen by a panel of experts, with Donnarumma selected by an international jury that included: men’s national team coaches, men’s national team captains, football journalists and fans who voted on FIFA’s official website.
This year’s qualifying period is from August 11, 2024 to August 2, 2025.
Donnarumma enjoyed a stellar season at former club Paris Saint-Germain, helping France to their 13th Ligue 1 title and forming part of a domestic treble alongside Coupe de France and Champions League successes.
He subsequently played a starring role in the side’s first-ever Champions League win, with the Italy international impressing as PSG progressed to the final, where he beat Inter Milan 5-0.

He also helped Luis Enrique’s side reach the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final before joining Manchester City.
Donnarumma has continued his excellent form following a move to Manchester City this summer and played an important role in helping Pep Guardiola’s side rise to second in the Premier League and sit high in the London University League table.
He said: “It is an honor to receive this prestigious award and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.”
“I’m extremely proud to be named the best goalkeeper in the world and ahead of a fantastic goalkeeper who I have great respect and admiration for.
“It has been an incredible year that will forever remain in my memory and it is really touching to be recognized for the role I played in the success we achieved during that period.
“I would like to sincerely thank you for your recognition and look forward to further success with my new club Manchester City.”

The last two games are particularly noteworthy, with Erling Haaland receiving a guard of honor from his teammates after breaking the Premier League single-season goalscoring record in May 2023.
Phil Foden’s brace and Rodri’s superb goal then secured our fourth consecutive Premier League title with a 3-1 victory over the Londoners on the final day of the season in May 2024.
