2026 NFL Draft scouting report: Drew Allar, Quarterback, Penn State

It’s never too early to start looking at 2026 NFL Draft prospects. General manager Jason Licht has used the draft as a key cog in the Buccaneers’ roster construction and team transformation.

We’ll cover every position in the draft, but not all positions are necessarily a need for the Buccaneers. Of course, anything is possible for a team that, if not, gets picked up by the Buccaneers’ biannual division rival.

In this report, we’ll discuss quarterbacks. The Buccaneers don’t have a need at the position, but the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons could pursue him in the draft. Because of that, we want to provide all the bases for those guys that we might see in conference play or other games.

With that in mind, here’s our coverage of Penn State’s Drew Allar.

Player summary

Drew Allar is such a complicated study because, physically, he should be the next Josh Allen. However, his performances have been inconsistent and now he’s injured. As such, he’s likely to be a project for someone on Day 3 of the NFL Draft, or a long-term backup to an established starter. Penn State’s offense did him no favors and really kept him in a box that lacked creativity. There’s a case to be made that he’s a better pro player than a college player, but time will tell. I think he’s worth moving on towards the end of Day 2 of the NFL Draft, but with his physical skills and arm talent, he could be valuable on Day 3.
