riser
Joe Burrow, Bengals
After returning from injury, Burrow had two consecutive QB1 fantasy drives, advancing 545 yards, six touchdowns and two picks.
None of his fantasy playoff opponents (Ravens, Dolphins, Cardinals) are worth worrying about, which means there are only a handful of quarterbacks you should consider starting over him.
Although Ty Higgins’ status this week is uncertain as he attempts to clear concussion protocol, Burrow remains a high-end fantasy option against Baltimore in a high-scoring matchup.

Other QB risers: Brock Purdy, 49ers
Saquon Barkley, Eagles
Barkley’s dream performance finally came true last Sunday with 122 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Star tackle Lane Johnson is expected to return to the lineup soon, perhaps as early as this week, which will provide a huge boost to the Eagles’ entire offense.
His impact would also coincide with an extremely easy fantasy playoff schedule over the next three weeks against the Raiders, Commanders and Bills.
From Barkley’s perspective, all three defenses rank in the top eight in terms of most fantasy points allowed to a running back.

While it’s been a disappointing season for the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, there are plenty of signs pointing to a fantastic ending for Barkley.
Other right guard: Travis Etienne Jr., Jaguars
Ja’an Jennings, 49ers
Jennings hasn’t had a lot of monster weeks, but his numbers in his last five fights have been very solid, at 4-41-1, 6-71-1, 4-54-0, 5-41-1 and 4-39-1.
While the touchdown catcher did some of the heavy lifting, he also excelled in some of the tougher games.
Now, Jennings gets one of the easiest fantasy playoff schedules, with a Titans, Colts and Bears defense that are all in the top 10 in fantasy points given up to the outside.

We’ve seen Jennings get hot over the past stretch, and he’s poised to do it again during the most important time on the fantasy calendar.
Other WR rising stars: Jakobi Meyers, Jaguars
Harold Fanning Jr., Browns
Despite my constant writing and talking about Fanning this season, including in this week’s waiver wire column, the rookie still appears in 42% of Yahoo leagues.
That doesn’t seem right for a player who ranks 11th among TEs in points per game this year and is the fourth-highest scorer at his position over the past three weeks.
The increase in fantasy production is matched by an increase in playing time as teammate David Njoku battles injuries. The veteran left last Sunday with knee issues, which could cost him time.
advertise
If that happens, you can expect Shadre Sanders to continue to focus on Fanning. In Week 14 alone, the two combined for 11 targets, eight of which combined for 114 yards and a score.
Not only do I have Fannin starting as TE1 in the fantasy playoffs, but I think there’s room for upside in the top five the rest of the way.
Other TE rising stars: Jake Ferguson, Cowboys
Phares
Justin Herbert, Chargers
Even though Herbert underwent surgery on his non-throwing hand earlier in the week, it was impressive to see Herbert suit up Monday night.
His offensive line is also damaged, losing two star tackles. While his presence helped lead the Chargers to victory, Herbert’s fantasy numbers continued to dwindle.
advertise
Herbert hasn’t scored more than 15 points in four straight games, and he hasn’t scored more than QB17 during that stretch. That’s especially surprising considering he ran for 66 yards in his most recent outing.
A victim of circumstance, it’s hard to believe Herbert will be anything other than an inconsistent QB2/anchor in the fantasy playoffs. This week’s road game in Kansas City and Week 17’s home game against the Texans are places to avoid him.
Other quarterback losers: Caleb Williams, Bears
RJ Harvey, Broncos
Do I really have to question a fantasy running back who has been ranked in the top five the past two weeks?
advertise
that’s right.
In his first start before his recent surge, Harvey managed just 50 scrimmage yards and no scores against the Chiefs.
Although he was in good shape against the Commanders in Week 13, he only managed 62 yards in overtime but saved his fantasy day with two touchdowns.
There’s no question that his Week 14 game against the Raiders was his best performance to date, but again, that was another easy opponent like Washington.
Now, the difficulty will increase when he faces the Packers, Jaguars and Chiefs again. These are the top 10 defenses with the fewest points allowed by running backs.
advertise
So keep your expectations in check for Harvey, who’s more of a riskier fantasy RB2 than the high-end RB1 he’s delivered the past two weeks.
Other RB losers: Rico Dowdle, Panthers
Alec Pierce, Colts
Pierce has been a great story this season as a vital part of the Colts offense and an upside WR3 in fantasy. However, Daniel Jones went down with a season-ending injury, completely changing the equation for Pierce moving forward.
With either the 44-year-old Philip Rivers or the unproven Riley Leonard looking increasingly likely to start for Indy, this passing offense is about to change dramatically — relying more on the running game and less on downfield throws, which Pierce is best at.
advertise
Overall trade volume has also been called into question as the team tries to survive without its starters.
To make matters worse, Pierce was given a Seahawks defense in Week 15 that allowed the fourth-fewest fantasy points at his position.
Even with a great season so far, Pierce can only be viewed as a hit-or-miss WR4/flex.
Other WR losers: Khalil Shakir, Beal
Oronde Gadsden II, Chargers
Gadsden’s struggles continued this week as he had his worst fantasy trip of the season, resulting in just one catch on four targets for seven yards.
It was the latest in a string of poor performances for him, which had total yards of 13, 41 and 27 before this game.
advertise
The player we teased about the third-highest points per game among tight ends in the month we were teased from Weeks 6 to 9 is no longer there.
Instead, he was replaced by a guy who didn’t contribute much in the passing attack.
The rookie has gone from being a weekly TE1 to a low-end TE2/anchor. He doesn’t even have an easy opponent that we can target in the fantasy playoffs.
Gadsden’s future is promising, but don’t expect too much from him during the remainder of the 2025 fantasy campaign.
Other TE losers: Hunter Henry, Patriots
