MTSU football fires offensive coordinator Bodie Reeder | Report

Middle Tennessee football will not retain offensive coordinator Bodie Reed, according to FootballScoop.com.

Blue Raiders head coach Derek Mason remains on staff through the 2026 season, but the program has lost three assistant coaches since early November. In December 2023, Reeder was hired by Mason as the OC after taking over the Blue Raider job.

Wide receivers coach Cornelius Williams was fired on Nov. 11 with three games remaining in the season. Just a week ago, the team announced that offensive line coach Kendall Simmons had decided to opt out of the game due to personal reasons.

MTSU’s offense was inconsistent heading into the 2025 season before redshirt freshman quarterback Roman Galliano emerged.

The Blue Raiders went 3-9 for the second consecutive season, averaging just 17 points per game through the first six games and finishing the season averaging 22.4 points per game.

Behind Galliano, who started the final three games, MTSU averaged more than 29 points per game and won its final two games.

Under Reed, MTSU’s offense averaged just over 20 points per game in two seasons.

Reed will serve as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at NIU through the 2022-23 season. Prior to that, he served as Auburn University’s interim quarterbacks coach and offensive analyst in 2021, Utah State’s offensive coordinator in 2020, North Texas’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2019, and Eastern Washington University’s offensive coordinator in 2017-18.

He also coached at Oklahoma State, Wisconsin-Stout State and Eastern Illinois.

As a player, Reed began his college career at Wyoming in 2005 before transferring to Eastern Illinois, where the 2010 graduate threw for 3,741 yards and 23 touchdowns in 30 games and 356 career completions.

While MTSU is searching for a new OC, the Blue Raiders will likely enter the 2026 season with Gagliano behind center but will lose leading rusher Jakeir Middlebrook (1,162 yards rushing/receiving), who is reportedly entering the transfer portal.

Riverdale product DJ Taylor rushed for 199 yards (second only to Middlebrook) and two touchdowns while also adding 54 receiving yards and a touchdown.
