After 32 years, the Texas A&M football program will be led by new leadership with the retirement of legendary coach G Guerrieri. It was announced Tuesday that former Florida State assistant coach Bobby Shuttleworth will take over for Aggieland.
The newly appointed coach brings a wealth of game experience and a championship mentality to a team that only reached the Elite Eight a few seasons ago. His competitive mentality and proven track record make him an ideal choice as just the second head football coach in A&M history, and he could be the catalyst they need to push them to the next level. He is enthusiastic about this opportunity and the future of the program.
“I am committed to honoring the winning tradition of Texas A&M football by continuing to compete for championships at the highest level.”
While at Florida State, Shuttleworth helped the Seminoles to a 70-7-12 record in his four seasons and was fresh off a national championship in 2025, when they defeated Stanford 1-0 for the gold medal. In 2023, they were named United Soccer’s National Coaching Staff of the Year after an undefeated season and a national championship.

He is also an outstanding goalkeeper, having played 232 games in his career, ranking 13th in Major League Soccer (MLS) goalkeeper history. The experience helped him coach star goalie Kate Ockene to a stellar performance in the championship game against Stanford.
This is truly a new era for Aggieland, and Coach Shuttleworth will have the opportunity to leave his mark on the program by working to position them for the future.
