With Zero Healthy QBs, Indianapolis Colts Working Out 44-Year-Old

The Indianapolis Colts have zero healthy quarterbacks after Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Sunday’s game. His replacement, sixth-round pick Riley Leonard, is making his NFL debut as he deals with a strained knee ligament suffered in Sunday’s loss.

Anthony Richardson, meanwhile, is still recovering from an orbital fracture he suffered in preseason and won’t be ready for Sunday’s game. Brett Rypien is the only other quarterback in the organization who is also on the practice squad. However, the Colts are bringing in some outside help and it seems they have no choice.

However, the quarterback the Colts choose to bring in is very interesting. Specifically, the Colts have agreed to give 44-year-old Philip Rivers a workout. Although Rivers is an eight-time Pro Bowler and an accomplished quarterback with 17 NFL seasons of experience, he has not played in a game since the 2020 season.

However, the Colts are off to a 7-1 start to the season and are in desperate need of a capable quarterback who can salvage their season after going 8-5 in Week 14. Can Rivers be the Colts’ savior? First, the Colts have to determine if he’s worth signing, but they don’t have a better option at hand.
